I know three things about you:
- You own shoes
- They are all over the floor or in a sad basket with dirty squished shoes at the bottom (oh, I KNOW).
- You need this cabinet:
Last year, I came across an antique mail sorter turned shoe cubby, and I immediately knew I needed something like this in my life. Graeme made this cabinet for me a few weeks later.
It’s times like these that I am grateful to be married to a carpenter. I’m also especially grateful for Graeme when I’m pregnant and a little boy in the midst of potty training does something terrible in the front yard.
Oh yes; the self-employed husband is a good and perfect gift from above.
I really liked the mail sorter, but I wanted to make a few changes. I wanted a row of tiny drawers at the top, for storing useful trash: buttons, old receipts from Lowe’s, marbles because we have a baby now, mysterious gift cards, and an old packet of seeds. There are so many junk drawers in our house it’s embarrassing. But hey, at least I store my clothes upright. Marie Kondo is proud of me.
We also made the cubbies larger, added a bottom to the shoe cabinet (making it a box), and finished it off with decorative moulding because we’re fancy like that.
Who knew a shoe storage cabinet could be beautiful? I used to think the only option was a dirty basket by the door, but look at this pretty thing!
When it was finished, we added it to our online shop and got an order for one a few days later.
Graeme has made some amazing things for me before, like our mudroom cabinet and this lovely lovely dish rack, but our shoe cabinet is definitely my favorite.
We’re still shipping these cabinets all over the US, and you can get yours here.
Your entryway will thank you.
Your assorted gift cards will thank you.
Your shoes will thank you.
Your toddler will probably still leave his dinosaur flip flops in the middle of the kitchen.
Oh well.
